KEN CAPTURES THE ATLANTA SPRING SCRATCH WIN

On Sunday, April 20, 2008, the REALBOWLERS TOUR hosted it 5th stop of the season, the 4th annual ATLANTA SPRING SCRATCH TOURNAMENT.  As always these events draw some of the best bowlers in the region and on this day one of North Carolina best came out on top….Mr. Ken McNeely of Morganton, NC.  Ken bowled great all day qualifying third after 7 games; he then navigated through 3 rounds of match play to go against previous RBT champion Lee Vanderhoef in the final match.  Ken won the match taking home the title, $1800.00 cash, and the coveted RBT trophy.

This tournament took place at AMF Embassy Row Lanes bowling center, a wood 40 lane house located in the heart of Forest Park, Georgia.  For this event we used the “house shot” and the scores reflected such as the cut to the top 12 bowlers was +129.  The 54 participants in attendance was comprised of high caliber bowlers.  This is the one and only tournament of the season in which we use the “house shot” pattern and those in attendance didn’t mind the conditions as everyone appeared to have a great time competing with their fellow bowlers.  After 7 games of qualifying the top 12 bowlers rolled 3 rounds of match play until we arrived to our final four bowlers, 2nd seed Jason Sterner of Roswell, GA, 3rd seed Ken McNeely of Morganton, NC, 4th seed Lee Vanderhoef of Greenville, SC, and 12th seed Joe German of Atlanta, GA.  Lee defeated Joe and Ken defeated Jason to set up the final match.  For finishing runner-up Lee won $1,100.00 and Jason and Joe won $700.00 each.  Isom Hawes of East Point, GA was top qualifier taking home $150.00 in addition to his earnings.

As always the REALBOWLERS staff would like to thank you for supporting the tour.  We do this for you the serious bowler.  Our goal will continue to bring you the very best in tournament bowling.  If you haven’t experienced the REALBOWLER TOUR, come give it a try.
